Distribution Board Upgrades

The distribution board is the control centre of your electrical system. It distributes power around your premises and protects against faults. Older boards may lack the protection modern units provide and may struggle to cope with today's demand.

We replace outdated distribution boards and consumer units with modern ones, test the installation and supply the certification. A distribution board upgrade is a separate job from a rewire, and it does not automatically mean your premises need rewiring.

Common questions

  • You may need an upgrade if the board is outdated, damaged, lacks suitable protection or cannot accommodate changes to your installation. An assessment can determine whether replacement is advisable.

  • A suitable modern board can provide improved protection through appropriate devices such as RCDs or RCBOs and, where required, surge protection. The condition of the existing wiring must also be considered.

  • This depends on the size of the installation, the number of circuits, testing and any remedial work needed. Out-of-hours work is available to keep disruption to a minimum.

  • Yes. Appropriate electrical installation certification and test results will be provided for the completed work in accordance with the applicable requirements.
